Here is Carly sporting her new sling. The break is too high to cast (see x-ray), so, we are going to have to be real careful for the next several weeks while this heals. Posted by Hello

Wow! What a great time we had with G & G Hastings :-)

We are so glad that Grandma and Grandpa Hastings came to our home for a visit! It was awsome. We had a great time and a lot of fun!

  • I've got to say first, however, that, once again, I am the world champion at Dominos. That is right. I outlasted everyone. I was able, with my superior intellect and ability to "make things happen", while others relied on "the luck of the draw", as I was saying, I was able to out last everyone, every game! I not only had the most points every game, but the most dominos every game too. At the end of one game, I had to put dominos back while everyone else was drawing, as I was left with more than the required amount to start the next game!

Aside from the fun and games, here is how our visit went (see pic's below):

  • Monday afternoon we visited while waiting for the school kids to come home.
  • For dinner, we served Len's home made pizza and bread sticks!
  • For family home evening we made video of G & G Hastings relating stories from their dating and early married years.
  • After FHE, came the imfamous domino championship
  • On Tuesday we did yard work in the morning
  • In the afternoon Grandpa and I repaired the sprinkler system
  • Debby and Grandma went shopping, checking out the new Wal-mart
  • Grandpa and I also edited our FHE movie and made a DVD. (If you are a good little boy or girl, perhaps Santa will send you a copy!)
  • Tuesday night we watched movies, U.S. Marshalls (Grandpa said, "Too much!")
  • Tuesday late night, Grandma read and the rest of us stayed up to watch Napoleon Dynamite! It was actually late enough that Grandpa got some real laughs out of this show!
  • Wednesday morning, I had to go to work...:-(
  • Everyone here at the Mitchell ranch visited for the morning, after sleeping in....:-)
  • Tuesday afternoon Grandpa and I loaded up some of the 2003 reunion video on the computer and watched many of the talent show clips. Hopefully... this will also be available in the not tooooo distant future.
  • Debby and Grandma spent the afternoon checking out the rest of the high quality shopping in our area including the Dollar Store, Hobby Lobby, Garden Ridge and Target.
  • Wednesday early evening, Grandma and Debby worked on craft projects and family history while Grandpa and Len edited videos.
  • Late Wednesday, Len had the awsome opportunity to troubleshoot and repair a water leak from an unknown source under the kitchen sink!!! (see pic's below for yet another use for ABC gum!!!)
  • Thursday morning, it was Cinnamon Sunrise and good-byes.

I've been soliciting feedback from outside sources on my pizza making. Today, I had the great pleasure of working with the Grand Wizard of Pizza! Here he is coaching me on the fine art of pizza sauce!!! Posted by Hello

Here's the Grand Wizard of Pizza, sampling, tasting, testing, more tasting, testing..... Anyway, I appreciate the great feedback from my official pizza consultant, Grandpa Hastings. Posted by Hello

I suspect I have a problem with my sprinkler system. Here is my trusty asistant, Grandpa Hastings, helping me look for the problem. (by the way... have you ever seen such a neat and tidy yard???!!!) Posted by Hello

Alright, here's the problem. When Grammy and Papa Mitchell were here, we moved the bulbs from this area to another area. As you can see, especially you Mainers..., the water line for my sprinkler system is not very far under the ground. Consequently, as I was digging with my spade fork shovel, I pierced the line. I did not discover it, however, until just recently. Posted by Hello

The main reason my chief assistant is smiling is because, during the test, he got to "run through the sprinklers", which, now that we have repaired the line, work just fine!!! Posted by Hello

Okay, at ~10:30 the night before G & G Hastings are going to leave, Debby reports that there is a "bunch" of water under the sink in the cupboard! I can smell a disaster coming my way. So I gear up for the worst. Posted by Hello

What I found was that my garbage disposal has a hole in its side! It also looks like there are other places in various states of decay. Since it is 11:00 at night and I have to be up at 04:00 in the morning, I'm going to see if I can find a way to repair it until I can get a chance to replace it. Posted by Hello

Amazing what you can do with some ABC gum and duct tape!!!!! :-) Posted by Hello
